Section 4

Asterton to Gravels Post Office
13.11 miles, 692 metres ascent

Starting at Asterton walk up onto the Long Mynd, pass by the Midland Gliding Club with gliders and paragliders. Up to the highest point Pole Bank (1696 ft). Then down to Ratlinghope, onwards to Bridges for lunch and a  welcome pint  of Three Tuns XXX, if you time it right!

Onwards to the Stiperstones and along the ridge westward, admiring the views on the way

Down the Shropshire Way to The Bog centre (below), open for teas and local crafts and information about the area (during the summer, we advise checking opening hours)

The path crosses fields near Shelve and on to the former Gravels Post Office, the end of this section
